How Do I Plan To Accomplish My Mission?
Build safer communities -
Getting the deputies back into the county with good leadership skills and training them to interact with the citizens in a manner that is consistent with the Community Oriented concept.
Involving the Community by encouraging them to interact with the Sheriff’s Office.
Invite the Community to share our vision and help the Sheriff's Office be the best it can be.
Develop patrol plans that integrate interaction with the citizens of the County.
Directed patrols -
Target specific areas or locations that require extra attention. Safe School zones, High activity locations, Vacation homes, Residential and Commercial property protection.
Promote Safer Schools -
Restart the DARE program, train and integrate School Resource Officers, School Zone traffic monitoring, student and faculty education programs.
Liaison with other Law Enforcement Agencies -
Initiating and supporting a Major Crimes Task Force that combines the investigative talents, strengths, and resources of professional investigators from across the county.
Support Area Law Enforcement agencies with manpower and assistance with community events.
Coordination of joint training and intelligence sharing -
Promote inter-agency cooperation through information sharing, tactical assistance response and strategic planning.
Encourage employee career development by conducting standardized in-service training programs that educate and raise the professional standards of Deputies and area Officers.
Constantly train Officers in criminal law, methods of criminal investigation, public safety and meeting the needs of the citizens.
Employee Satisfaction -
Let each Sheriff's Office employee know that that they are an integral and important part of the agency and their safety and well being is important to me.
Encourage employees to take ownership of the Mission of the Agency.
Strive to achieve the best possible compensation for Sheriff's Department employees and see to it that they receive benefits comparable to other agencies of similar size and demand.
Obtain and maintain the best possible equipment and training that is available.
Community Oriented Policing -
Provide personal service through Community Oriented Policing strategy.
Sheriff’s Departments in this country are the original Community Oriented policing agencies. Service to the agencies constituents was originally and should have always been paramount.
I will strive to provide quality attention to the needs of the community. Department employees will be trained in appropriate attitude, response, and attention to detail in regard to the services rendered to our citizens.
They will be trained to assist with the development of answers to community problems and issues. They will learn to recognize the causes and effects of community issues and will respond to them in the most appropriate way.
This will not replace criminal investigation and the enforcement of the law, but it is a proactive response rather than a reactive response to crime and community issues. We will join the community in addressing and solving the problems we all face, and we will ask for their assistance in doing it.
